Marvel Zombies!
Mary Nyan:
Arigato! A sequel to the 2021 mated What If…? story “Zombies” on the Marvel Zombies comic books which occur on an alternate Earth amidst the supurr zombie apocalypse, this four epurrsode animated miniseries streaming on Disney+ was written, purrduced & directed by Bryan Andrews & Zeb Wells, and has the all-star cast as the supurr heroes travelng across the wastelands, fighting the zombies and searching for the remedy!
The tale’s main purrotagonists are Ms. Marvel, Ironheart, Kate Bishop, F.R.I.D.A.Y., Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Shang-Chi, Jimmy Woo, and Blade Knight. Also appurring (alive) are elena’s mom, Shang Chi’s friend Katy, Ant Man, Spider-Man, Zemo, Valkyrie, Thor, Hulk, Death Dealer, and John Walker. Among the many zombies are Scarlet Witch, Steve Rogers, Iron Man, Hawkeye, T’Challa, Captain Marvel.R ocket Raccoon, Groot, Namor, Oloye, Abomination, and Thanos!
I love a lot of horror and Marvel shows, so this’un was purrfect for the Halloween spirit! The scenes of violence, gore, fright and tragedy are not for widdle kitties, but I think that the briskly-paced, action-packed tale was well written, directed, edited and animated, with the beautiful character designs, mecha, scenic art, FX, sounds, mewsic, and voice acting, so I will give the mini-series the high purraise! Frankenstein!
Mary Nyan:
There have been hundreds Frankenstein movies and TV shows in the past 115 years, and countless other movies that adapt or seem inspired Mary Shelly’s iconic novel in their tales of an irresponsible human’s creation tragically coming back to bite him and others. Of course, not all such inspired works are serious or scary, as some are quite charming and comedic.
Among my favorite Frankenstein-ish flms are those by the Universal and Hamme, Studios, Kennith Brannaugh, The Munsters, Colossus, Young Frankenstein, Rocky Horror, Re-animator, Frankenhooker, The Terminater, Akira,Alita, Edward Scissorhands, and Lilo & Stitch, plus certain epurrsodes of TV series such as Star Trek, The Monkees, The Night Stalker, Doctor Who, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I love Guiiermo del Toro’s movies, so rather eagerly anticipated this film which he wrote, directed and purrduced! The brilliant caast includes Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstwin, Felix Kammerer as his brother William, Charles Dance as their dad, Mia Goth as their mom and as Elizabeth, Christoph Waltz as her uncle Henrich, David Bradley as the blind man, Lars Mikkelsen as the Captain, and Jacob Elorsi as The Creature!
Not only is this movie one of my favorites of this year, but I think that it is one of the best Frankenstein movies ever made! The story, direction, cinemeowtography, purrformances, sets, locations, costumse, make-up, editing, FX, sounds, Andre Desplat’s mewsic, and the inspurration by artist Berni Wrightson are among the many supurrb ingredients! Good Fortune!

Hay! Good Fortune is the supurrnatural comedy starring Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Keke Palmer, Sandra Oh, and its writer / director Aziz Ansari! What a great cast! The plot purrtains to the misadventure of the well-meaning but naive and overly ambitious guardian angel Gabriel (Reeves) who hopes to cheer up hapless human Arj (Ansari), but winds up harming tycoon Jeff (Rogan) whose body is swapped with Arj’s.
This situation also adversely affects Arj’s relationship with former co-worker Elena (Palmer) and Gabriel’s relationship with his supervisor angel Martha (Oh) who turns Gabriel into a normal human until the situation can be redeemed.
As a fine example of needing to be careful in what is wished for or granted, I think Good Fortune has themes somewhat akin to It’s A Wonderful Life, Freaky Friday, and Back to the Future 2!
My only wish is that wonderful Sandra Oh had a larger role! Palmer continues to have a flawless track record, I think it is one of Rogan’s best movies; lovable, humanized Gabriel reminds more of Ted Logan than John Wick or Neo Anderson; and Ansari scores a solid triple as writer director & actor, as the unintended consequences of the altered reality result in ample whimsy, pathos and charm! A House of Dynamite!

This is one of my favorite movies of the year! Directed by purrducer Kathryn Bigelow, and written by purrducer Noah Oppenheim, this nonlinear political thriller reminds me the bit of Failsafe and The West Wing as we see the nuclear missile crises from different branches of the US government! The brilliant cast includes Rebecca Ferguson as the White House Situation Room Officer, Jason Clarke as her director…
…Idris Elba as the President of the United States, Jonah Haur-King as his miliary aide, Renee Elise Goldsberry as the First Lady, Jared Harris as the Secretary of Defense, Tracy Letts as STRATCOM’s General, Gabriel Basso as the Deputy Security Advisor, Anthony Ramos as Fort Greely’s CO, Moses Ingram as FEMA officer Rogers, Greta Lee as NSA officer Park, and Brian Tee as Secret Service Agent Cho!
One of my favorite Kathryn Bigelow movies, this film is extremely realistic with the very riveting, captivating narrative and highly immersive ambience. The 112 minute movie was also over before I knew it; not that it seemed too rushed or too short (as many movies these days do), but rather appurropurriately so, in that such a crisis would purrobably unfold far too quickly. Tron: Ares!

Thanks Ellie! I loved Disney’s original 1982 movie Tron, which was such an innovative pioneering effort in computer animation; directed by Steve Lisberger with a score by Wendy Carlos, it’s great cast included Bruce Boxleitner, David Warner, Cindy Morgan, Peter Jurassik, Bernard Hughes, Jeff Bridges, and perhaps most importantly Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn.
Of course, I loved the amazing designs by Moebius, Chris Lane, Peter Mueller, John Norton, Peter Lloyd and my idol Syd Mead! Then in 2010, we were treated to the sequel Tron: Legacy whch reunited Bridsges and Boxleitner. In 2012, Boxleitner voiced Tron in the animated TV series Tron: Uprising, which was set between the two movies,
Written by Jesse Wigutow & David DiGilio, directed by Joachim Ronning and scored by Nine Inch Nails, Tron: Ares stars Jared Leto as the titular character; Giillian Anderson, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, and a brief return by Bridges, although sadly Boxleitner, Wilde and Hedlund are not actually in this sequel, the latter two actors’ characters Sam Flynn & Qorra are referenced in a post-credits scene, but I shouldn’t further spoil the plot.
The music is okay but too loud, whilst the designs, FX and action scenes are great. I wish Bridges had a larger role; Boxleitne:, Wilde and Hedlund are greatly missed; but Turner-Smith’s character Athena is delightfully relentless,and I like Ares who reminds me of Neo from The Matrix. My favorite things were the brief scenes of the 1982 Grid, which made me feel like a teenager again, but ultimately the movie was a mixed bag. Next I’d like to discuss
One Battle After Another!

Based on Thomas Pynchyon’s novel Vineland, One Battle After Another was written & directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, whose prior films such as Magnolia, Licorice Pizza, There Will be Blood, Boogie Nights, and Phantom Thread I rather enjoyed. It brilliantly stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benecio del Toro, Chase Infiniti, Teyana Taylor, Regina Hall, and briefly the great Kevon Tighe in this tale of when far left and far right extremists worlds collide!
I don’t wanna reveal too much about the wonderfully immersive film’s utterly captivating plot, other than it involves scores to be settled by revoltionary aqnrchistss,, fascist government officers, white supramicists, an underground railroad, a nationalistic militia unit, a weed-growing convent, a bounty hunter, a hit man, a secret society, and people on both sides who are getting too old for the chase all trying to find one runaway teenage girl who is as feisty as feisty can be.
The characters and world-building are fascinating with a great balance of dark humor, drama and action. I loved everything about this movie, from the plot, pace, design, dialog, choreography. locations and performances to the direction, editing, cinematography, FX, makeup, sound and music! A contender for my favorite movie of the year, I’ll give One Battle After Another an “A” as in Anderson! Ah, now here is Daytona to say a few words about
Bugonia!
Daytona:
Arigato! I am a fan of director Yorgos Lanthimos and actress Emma Stone, so I quite eagerly awaited Burgonia, which stars Stone as the pharma corpurration CEO whose kidnappurr (purrtrayed by Jessie Plemons) thinks that she is the extraterrestrial invader! I did not like Bugonia as much as thier 2023 movie Poor Things, but it is still the excellent movie with the great purrformances, cinemeowtography, dark humor and twisty plot! That will do it for our movie mewsings, so now we will segue to-

I am a fan of singer / songwriter / pianist Tori Amos, so I was rather keen to get this storybook that she wrote, which was illustrated by Demelsa Hauhghton, designed by Lynn Portnoff, and published by Penguin Workshop! Aimed at readers aged 4-8, this 9.25” x 9.25” dust jacketed, full color, 40 page hardcover book has the text fonts of Calluna Semibold & Pimpernel Black.
Priced $19.99 in the USA and $26.99 in Canada, the wonderful book’s inspirational words and beautiful images depict young Tori’s charming encounter with the eleven muses who give her the magickal pink grand piano to take on the mission to discover other folks’ muses. I love it, and I will give it the grade of the “A” as in Amos! I am done, so now here is Vonny to discusss

Hai hai, I have been a fan of Marvel Comics’ supurr-heroine Ava Ayala alias the White Tiger since she first appurred 14 years ago in Avengers Academy #20, so I was happy to see this one-shot, nyan! Ava is the 3rd purrson to have t the meowgickal tiger amulet, after her late older brother Hector Ayala (who first appurred 50 years ago in Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu #19) and their niece Angela Del Toro (who first appurred 21 years ago in Daredevil Vol. 2 #58), nyan!
Purriced $4.99, rated T+, and commeowmerating Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month, the issue’s 32 pages include the 20 page “Reborn” tale, the 5 page “Song of the Coqui” tale, consultting editor Angelique Roche’s 2 page intermew with author / artist Daniel Jose Older; the 1 page introduction by purrofessor Mike Hawthorne (who with artist Frederico Blee did the issue’s mane cover art); the recap / credits / indicia page, and the 3 pages of ads, nyan.
“Reborn” was written by Daniel Jose Older, illustrated by Bruna Abdias, colored by Marcelo Costa and stars Ava, the ghost of Hector, psychic Iya Nichelle, detective Nathan Byrd,(who first appurred 50 years ago in Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu #12), his dog Barracuda, Chonk the bodega cat, the Tiger God (who first appurred fully 13 years ago in Avengers Academy #36) and the evil demon D’spayre (who first appurred 47 years ago in Marvel Team-Up #68), nyan!
“Song of the Coqui” was written by Cynthia Pelayo, illustrated by Moises Hidalgo, colored by Dono Sanchez-Almara, and stars Ava, Angela, and the Bronx Zoo’s Dr. Lopez, who is attacked by the evil agents of the nefarious Roxxon Energy Company (which first appurred 51 years ago in Captain America #180), whose illegal construction purroject threatens the environment and wildlife of Purreto Rico, including the cute widdle Coqui Tree Frogs, nyan!
D’spayr is quite the fearsome foe, but those Roxxon thugs do not stand thechance against Ava and Angela, nyan! I was very pleased with this comic book, which was lettered by Ariana Maher, designed by Kat Walkington, edited by Lauren Amaro, supurrvisingly edited by Alanna Smith, and in-chiefly edited by C.B. Including the covers, this $4.99 comic book has 36 full color, full bleed, full throttle pages depicting scantily clad characters from Street Fighter, but Darkstalkers, Power Stone, Star Gladiator, Captain Commando, Final Fight, Rival Schools, Battle Circuit and Cyberbots having fun at the ocean, beach and pool!

Purrduced by Dreamworks and shown on Netflix, Gabby’s Dollhouse is the delightful children’s TV series and-and he new movie that starring Laila Lockhart Kraner in the titular role who wears the meowgickal cat ears to shrink down for for the tiny animated adventures with her kitty friend Pandy Paws and -and the many anthropurrmorphic kitty friends in her doll house nyan!

Hai!I am rather fond of the Rent-a-Girlfriend manga and anime about the love triangle between teen guy Kazuya with teen girls Chizuru and Ruka! Ruka has the slow heartbeat condition, but it beats faster around Kazuya so she believe they are the ideal couple! Patrt of.Taito’s Coreful line, this 1/6 scale figure of her is 8” tall plus the catgirl costume & .25” thick, 4.875” diameowter circular base for the overall height of 8.5”.
Sh is so peppy, sexy and cute in the playful pawing pose, the wearing th dark gray bandeau top bikini with the big kitty mitts, boots, and ears, from a cosplay photo shoot scene! The design, sculpt and paint are purrfect, from Ruka’s green eyes, hair ombre taut abs and inny belly button, to the costume’s bell collar, paw pads, and the swishy 5.5” tail- kawaii! Goddess of Victory Nikke Yumemirize N102 Figure!

Nikke is the post-apocalyptic story arc in the Goddess of Victory shooter video game series, by Sega, in which poor tragic but genki widdle character N102 a.k.a Amnnie is one of the combatants. Due to the unfortunate neural condition,, her mind is erased after each day’s missions, so she is like the nervous novice rookie in combat, although she does retain certain instincts and the craving for piping hot croquettes! The Yumemirize line of PVC figures depicts them in the comfy leisure attire, as if at the pajama party!

Whilst working as a butler at a mansion, he befriends the twin teen oni demon maid sisters Rem and Ram.
Voiced in Japan by Minase Inori and in the English dub Brianna Knickerbocker, Rem has blue eyes and left-parted short blue hair, whilst Ram has pink eyes and right-parted short ink hair, and is voiced in Japan by Murakawa Rie and in the English dub by Ryna Bartley. The bare-midriff monster versions of them are part of the Espresto Est series of figures made by the Bandai Namco corpurration’s Banpresto subsidiary company!
Standing upon the .5” high, 3.875” diameowter circular rocky base, Rem cosplays as the werewolf with the big gray paws, collar, ears, garters & tail, with the brown boots, sheer thigh high hose, blue & black halter top & shorts! Standing upon the 1.25” high 5.5” wide spiral steps base, Ram cosplays as the vampire, wearing the black & red halter top, black skirt, panty, choker, belt, gloves and batwing ears, dark gray thigh high hose with red gartera and shoes.
If standing straight and flatfooted, the figures of these 5’.5”tall sisters would be 8.25” tall, so they are 1/7.35 scale. In her crouched pose atop the base, the Rem figure is 7.75” tall overall, whereas the figure of Ram descending the steps is 9.5” tall overall. Both fare excellently designed, sculpted & painted; purrfectly conveying their likeness an spirit, with the purricise details from their bangs, hair clips, eyes & teeth, to their ears, abs, navels & gluteal clefts!
The fashions are quite intricate, such as the buckle on Rem’s arm band, the pocket, belt loops, seams and fringe of her shorts, and the cute pink heart-shaped pads on her paws! in this case, Maneki-Neko (Beckoning Cat) Day, which has been observed in Japan on September 29th since 1995. Purrhaps y’all have seen the iconic statues & figurines of the white calico bobtail cat with the raised gold coin and raised paw, which symbolizes good luck? Such is the motif of the Feline Lucky 2025 hotrod designed by Bryan Zhao.

For those who are new to here, Galleries 1-8 display the images by our purrducer Mike, whilst Guest Art Galleries 1-6 display images by other folks with their purrmissions; and Mike’s collaborations with other artists are throughout the mewseum, nyan! There is no overall chronological order from gallery to gallery, so you will find older and newer pics in each gallery, nyan!

This pic was Jeffrey’s part of the crossover art trade with Mike!

After that, we are ecstatic to exhibit two supurrb pics by Matt! “Squeaky Doo the Pirate” depicts the tantalizing titular goblin girl who has found the chest, which hopefully contains treasure and no traps! “Mary Rose” is the Da Vinci -inspired, Goblin – registered submarine chaser with the three-pounder Demon Head gun!
To top off the new additions are three Photoshop & mouse pics by Mike, starting with the pic of “Petra & Bunnii” in their beach volleyball bikinis! They are among our county’s Recreation League’s winningest champions when they are not co-curating the Mewseum of Art!
