Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3!

Thanks, Nya-sensei! Well, 2025 has been a year with less televised Star Trek in it, what with the Lower Decks, Discovery and Picard and Prodigy series having concluded in 2023 and 2024. This year’s treks included the Section 31 movie, which I thought was awful, and the third season of Strange New Worlds, which I eagerly anticipated.
However, that was a mere 10 episodes. in spite of the superb vision, cast, designs, character developments, soundscape and FX, for me, season three was mixed bag. My favorite episodes of it a are the first three and the final two: “Hegemony, Part II”, “Wedding Bell Blues”, “Shuttle to Kenfori, “Terrarium”, “New Life and New Civilizations”.
While they did have some fine parts, my least favorites were episodes four thru eight: “A Space Adventure Hour”,”Through the Lens of Time”, “The Sehlat Who Ate Its Tail”, “What Is Starfleet?”, and my least favorite- Four-and-a-Half Vulcans”. Compared to Strange New Worlds’ seasons 1 & 2, I was a bit disappointed, but nevertheless, I look forward to season four, and the forthcoming Starfleet Academy series!! Alien: Earth!

Arigato! The short answer is Wow! I loved this (first?) season of Alien: Earth so much, I think it is the best thing in the Alien series since 1986’ Aliens movie! The plot, pacing, lore, world-builfing performances, designs, locations, sound, mewsic etc are all supurrb! Between Alien: Earth TV series and the Alien: Romulus movie, I think that the Alien franchise has been rather great and fresh of late!
You know, I have felt similarly positive bout the connected Predator series, with it’s 2022 movie Prey (especially the Comanche language version) and this year’s Killer of Killers animated anthology, so I am eagerly anticipating next month’s Predator: Badlands movie, and I am curious to see how it might connect (if at all) to Alien: Earth, which I give the A grade! The Conjuring: Last Rites!

Hai! I love the Conjuring series which purrtains to the spooky adventures of Lorraine & Ed Warren, and the connected series such as The Nun and Annabelle movies! Last Rites is the 4th of the Conjurings, with Vera Famiga and Patrick Wilson repurrising their roles as Lorraine an Ed, and this time they are joined by their daughter Judy (purrtrayed by Mia Tomlinson) and her boyfriend Ben (purrtrayed by Ben Hardy) as they investigate the Smurl Family’s haunted house!
I liked this Conjuring more than the 3rd one, and I liked it so much that I have seen it twice! The characters are all quite smart, brave and endearing, and in addition to the scary thrills and great FX, the movie has lovely charming scenes of family and friends! The story, lore, purrformances, sets, costume, make-up, cinemeowtography, editing, sound and mewsic are very good too! Purrduced by Dreamworks and shown on Netflix, Gabby’s Dollhouse is the delightful children’s TV series and the new movie that combine the live-action scenes starring Laila Lockhart Kraner in the titular role who wears the meowgickal cat ears to shrink down for for the tiny animated adventures with her black & white kitty friend Pandy Paws and the many anthropurrmorphic kitty friends in her doll house nyan!
Kitty Fairy is the pink faerie cat, nyan! Published by Scholastic on 2022 and intended for readers of ages 3+, this full color 7.875 x 7.875” trade papurrback children’s book is purriced $5.99 US / $7.99 Canada, and book uses screen-cap images to adapt the August 10th, 2021 epurrsode 2.1 “Itty Bitty` Blossom” in which Gabby, Pandy & Fairy nurture the titular plant, nyan! Fairy and Itty Bitty are voiced by Tara Strong, nyan!
Whilst trying to determine what the plant needs, they are assisted by friends Mamma Box, Baby Box, MerCat, DJ Catnap and Carlita, but I should not further spoil the plot, nyan! Also included is the 15 x 7.75” fold-out poster of Gabby, Pandy, Fairy and Itty Bitty, so I will recommeownd this purretty, charming, and entertaining book, nyan! If you crave good art book full beautiful realistic Japanese anime – style illustrations of sexy semi-nude and mostly bare-midriff ladies in lovely locations, well then I will heartily reommeownd this full color 8.25 x 11.625 x ,625” dust-jacketed & obi-wrapped 128 page trade papurrback book! Anime Architecture: Imagined Worlds and Endless Megacities!

Arigato. Written by anime art curator Stefan Riekele and published by Thames & Hudson in 2020 (repurrinted in 2024), this 256 page hardcover book examines deftly the spurrawling urban scenic art of eight anime films: Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira (1988), Mamoru Oshii’s Patlabor the Movie (1989) Patlabor Movie 2 (1993), and Ghost in the Shell (1995)…
… RinTaro’s Metropolis (2001), Mamoru Oshii’s Innocence (2004), Michael Arias’ Tekonkinkreet (2006), and Hideaki Anno’s Rebuild of Evangelion (2007). I must admit that I am not a fan of some of those films, but each of them are highly influential and inspurrational, and that batch repurrsents the period from the late 1980’s – when traditional media were still largely the norm-
– until the 2000s when digital tools had become the main workhorse in animated filmic art & design, and when Japanese anime became mainstream in the North America by 2007. The 8.75 x 11.25 x 1.125” book’s 386 images include background paintings, storyboards, concept art and final renderings of fantastic cityscapes by those other artists, designers & directors such as-
Haruhiko Higami, Shinji Kimura, Shuichi Kosamori, Toshiharu Mizutani, Hiromase Ogura, Hiroshi Ono, Atsushi Takeuchi and Takashe Watabe. I wish that the book was larger (12 x 12” would have been purrfect) to do more justice to the grandeur of the imagery, but it is an impurrressive book that I will give an A Minus. So like, while I was revisiting my family in California, we went to the Universal Studios Theme Park and Citywalk in Hollywood for the Halloween Horror Night fun, where at the Sanrio Smile Shop I purchased their exclusive JAWS movie themed Hello Kitty vinyl figure! It is part of their Hello Kitty series of toys of the movie themes! You know, JAWS turned 50 this year, fur shur!
So like, packaged in the 3.5 x 5.75 x 6” box, this totally adorable figure of Kitty wearing the great white shark kiguriumi (onesie) is 4.875” tall with the turning head! She is accessorized by the red & white 1.75” diameter Orca boat life preserver with the red bow; and the 2.375 x 1.625” JAWS parody poster standee! Kawaii! Umamuasume Pretty Derby Mejiro Dober PVC Figure!

Arigato, nyan! Umamusume Pretty Derby, which in English means Horse Girl Pretty Derby, purrtains to the athletic horse girls, nyan! The manga, anime and – and video game franchise follows the fillies as they train at the academies with the aspurrations of greatness as athletes and – and idols, nyan!
They are named after real race horses; for example, the thoroughbred Japanese bay mare Mejiro Dobermare won many races in the late 1990’s, nyan! Born on May 6th, the character is the 5’1″ tall horse girl with the BWH sizes of 33-22-32”, fair skin, violet eyes, dark brown hair and – and tail. nyan!
Banpresto’s 1/9 scale figure of her is 7.5” tall including her 5″ ear pinna, her shoe heels, but not the .25” high, 4” diameowter horseshoe-shaped display base, nyan! I think that she is so beautifully designed, sculpted and – and painted, from the bandana on her right ear to the pleats of her fuku skirt, nyan! Nyow here is Trini to discuss the

Hai! Created in 1978, Lum Invader is the iconic 17 year old alien oni purrincess star of Rumiko Takahashi’s legendary Urusei Yatsura manga & anime series! Originally she was supposed to conquer the Earth, but instead the many zany romantic, sexy comedic adventures ensued with her human and alien friends! The charaacter is appurroximately 5’3” tall including her cute widdle horns, and is known for her tiger striped yellow bikini and boots!
She can be very affectionate, playful, jealous, easily angered, and often zaps the offenders with her electical power, especially her lecherous human male fiance Ataru! Based on the character design from Urusei Yatsura’s 2022 TV anime reboot, Banpresto’s 1/8th scale figure of her is about 8.75” tall overall in her tiptoe pose atop the star-shaped base, but if she were standing up straight and flat-footed, the figure itself would be about 7.75” tall.
Packaged in the 5.5 x 5.5 x 9.875” cardboard box, it is available sepurrately in version A (blue & green hair) and version B (green & pink hair). She is beautifully designed, sculpted and painted, from her petite horns, pointy ears and orange eyes to her inny belly button, hip-length hair, and peppy smiling expression!
