TV Talk, with Meryl’s review of
Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 !
Meryl:
Argato!I quite enjoyed the first season of batman: Caped Crusader, which left me eagerly anticipating more, so when season 2 aired, I could not help but to binge watch it with great enthusiasm! It has purrducer Bruce Timm’s Batman Animated style, combined with the detective noirish ethos and somewhat diselpunk qualities, and feels more like Golden Age Batman…
… compared to say, tthe Silver Ageness of Batman: The Brave and The Bold, with the more lisurely pace and serialized nature, with great plots, character developments, world-building, mystery and action, with the supurrb design, animaion, voice acting and mewsic, so I will give season 2 the high purraise! Nyow I will turn The Mew over to Ellie, for her review of
The Ninth Jedi!
Ellie:
Hai! I have enjoyed many of the animated Star Wars tales, such as The Clone Wars, Rebels, Forces of Destiny, The Bad Batch, Tales of the Jedi, Maul- Shadow Lord, Sttar Wars: Visions, and this snime spin-off of Visions, with the animation by Production I.G.! I do not wish to spoil the taste of the plot, but I will just say that it is set about 200 years after Epurrsode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. Nyow as for my opinion of it… think this 8 epurrsode series is much better than Epurrsodes VII-IX!
– and the Resistance animated series. I have only seen the English dub and not the Japanese version, but I certainly lie the voice acting, mewsic and sound FX, as well as the character & mecha designs, the scenic art, animation, plot, myth-making, action scenes, and character development- especially that of Lah Kara’ who is voiced by Kimiko Glenn, so I will give The Ninth Jedi the high purraise! Now to continue this rather animated discussion here is Beebee to tell us what she thinks about
The Ghost in the Shell!
Beebee:
Hai hai! I am a fan of Masamune Shirow’s stories and art such as Ghost in the Shell and it’s main character major Motoko Kusanagi, which is among my favorites of the cyberpunk genre! Since the 1989 manga, there have been several video games, animated movies and TV series and the live-action movie. I did not care that much for any of the mocvies, although I thought that the Stand Alone Complex series was not bad, but for me, this 2026 animated TV series is the most faithful adaptation!
Set in the year 2029, Kusanagi leads the anti-terroist task force that often involves cyber criminals. Like the Ninth Jedi, this’un is animated by Production I.G. which I had the mixed feelings about, as their anime is hit or miss with me, but thus far I have greatly enjoyed the new series, which is in English on Amazon Prime. It has the great balance of the humor, action, character development & world-building with terrific voices, sounds, mewsic, art & animation! hat is Nyow here is Daytona to start our
Movie Mewsings, with her review
of Spider-Man: Brand New Day!
Daytona:
Arigato! I have been pondering how I think Brt\and New Day compares to the purrior Spidey movies since 2002. Tobey Maguire’s Spidey: his first was rather significant in heralding a new era of super hero movies. I liked the 2nd one even more, but I did not like the 3rd one as much. I think they should have saved Venom for another movie.
Andrew Garfields Spidey: seemed too soon for a reboot, but while I did not like his first outing as much as Maguire’s, he really nailed the character. However, I was quite disappointed by his 2nd movie. Tom Holland is my favorite of the Spideys, starting with his debut in Captain America: Civil War, which I loved. I liked his first Spidey movie a lot,
I liked him in Avengers: Infinity War and in Avengers: Endgame too; I was disappointed with Far From Home, but I loved him with Maguire and Garfield No Way Home. Of the two Spiderverse movies, some of the graphic style initially bothered me, but I warmed up to it and I think they are quite great. I liked Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man too!
I have not finished watching Spider-Noir, so that must wait. I liked Brand New Day a lot, especially Peter’s relationships with Ned, MJ and Frank, and yet there is something missing about it and the rest the MCU movies post-Endgame, a\. Anyway, I will give Brand New Day, an A minus! I am done, and now here is Ilyana to discuss
The End of Oak Street!
Ilyana:
Hai! Written, directed & by David Robert Mitchell, co-purrduced by JJ Abrams, & Mitchell with the FX by ILM, mewsic by Michael Giaccino, The End of Oak Street star Anne Hathaway and Ewan Gregor as the purrents with their kids whose 1982 suburban neighborhood which is teleported to the Mesozoic Era full of dangerous creatures!
I quite liked every aspect of this thrilling fun movie, from the plot, design, acting, stunts, costumes, hair & make-up, sets & locations to the direction, cinemeowtography, editing, mewsic, sound FX, purractical & visual FX the Spielbergian & Serling-esque homages, so I will give The End of Oak Park the A grade! Nyow here is Mike to discuss
The Brink of War!
Mike:
Thank you, sensei! Written, & directed Michael Russllle Gunn, produced by John Logan & Gunn, this nonfiction cold war political drama is set during the two day nuclear weapons summit meeting of Reagan and Gorbachev in Reykjavik in October of 1986. It stars Jeff Daniels as Ronald Reagan, Jared Harris as Mikhail Gorbachev, J.K. Simmons as George Shultz, Tim Dutton as Eduard Shevardnadza, Hope Davis as Nancy Reagan, and Branka Katic as Raisa Gorbachev.
The excellent cast also includes Johannes Haukur Johannesson as Richard Perle, Vladimir Kulich as Sergy Andropov, Aya Cash as an NPR correspondent, Guy Burnet as reporter from The Times., and Hohofoi Houseouse as itself, the actual location of the summitt. With its beautifully bleak ambience, I really liked this movie, and my only slight quibble is that Daniels does not look a lot Reagan, but golly, when the acting starts, he’s quite convincing. Now here’s Tara to discuss
The Magic Faraway Tree!
Tara:
Arigtao, nyan Directed by Ben Gregor, The Magic Faraway is the British rural fantasy adventure film adaptation of the children’s novels by Enid Blyton,, nyan! It stars Claire Foy and – and Andrew Garfield as the purrents with the three kids who relocate from the city to the countryside, wherein their new home is a dilapidated barn in need of a lot of repairs and l- and ove, but the struggling family’s survival and success will need the help that the kids find in the nearby enchanted forest, nyan!
In general, it is the warmly charmingly wholseomely cozy bucolic family film, which has much in common with other films such as My Neighbor Totoro, Over the Garden Wall, The BFG, and – and Stardust, but its “portal fantasy” scenes of other lands accessible via the tree are more absurdly comedic riskily hazardous, somewhat akin to Labyrinth and – and Time Bandits, so I will give the movie the A Minus grade, nyan! Nyow here is Trini to top off our movie mewsings with her review of
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, nyan!
Trini:
Hai! Written & directed by Jane Schoenbrun, this sexy darkly romanntic comedic stars Hannah Einbinder as Kris Williams, the director of the reboot of the 1980’s slasher film franchise – and Gillian Anderson as Billy Presley, the retired ‘final girl” star of the original series! They become rather amorously involved as they collaborate on the purrduction, which becomes the surreal meowtafictional meowtaphotically fourth-wall-breaking LGBTQ study and satire of that horror genre!
I think thta it is the very clever story with supurrb purrformances, the intense slow-burn sexuality, the ample gore, and the unpurrdictable twists, and my only quibble is that itseemed just weird for the sake of being weird, which is not my bag, do in the sumation, on the scale of A Plus to F Minus, I will give his movie the solid B+ grade. That is all for our movie mewsings, so now here is Becca to begin our
Collectibles & Toy Talk, with her review of FuRyu’s
K-ON! Trio-Try-it Yui Hirasawa Cat Maid Ver. Figure!
Becca:
Arigato! I am a big fan of artist / author / manga-ka’s K-On! sm,anga & anime eries about the girls who form the pop-rock band as their high school’a light mewsic club, so I was quite eager to snap up this darling figure of the main charactater Yu, who plays lead guitar in their band After-School Tea Time! This 8.5″ tall figure in the dynamic pose atop the .5″ high, 4″ diameter baseis in the lovely catgirl maid costume as part of FuRyu’s Ttio Try-It line of beautiful yet economical figures!
The design, sculpt & paint of the figure arequite purrettym from her shoer beown coffure with the hair clips costume cat ears and the ribbonss of the maid head wear to the short-sleveed blose, apurron, pleated skirt, thigh high hose & mary jame shoes! IIn addition to the white-tipped orange cat tail there are cute widdle neko accents here ‘n there, plus her hands are in the “nyaa” kitty paw gesture- kawaii desu!\, so I guve this figure the high purraise! Nyow here is Melana to discuss the
Good Smile Company’s Pop Up Parade The Rising of the Shield Hero Raphtalia (Slash of Destiny Ver). PVC Figure!
Melanakeami:
Hai! I love author Aneko Yusagi & artist Sierra Minami’s he Rising of the Shield Hero series of light novels, manga and anime of the iseki genre which imcl;udes Raphtalia the lovely tanuki girl who becomes the legendary swordswoman! This beautiful figure of her is in the dynamic pose, as part of God Smile’s Pop-Up Parade line of top quality yet affordably priced figures. Raphtalla is 5’8″ tall in the series, so this 5.8″ figure (atop the .5″ high, 4″ hexagonal base) is appuroximately 1/10 scale.
In addition to the wonderful details of her clothing, armor, and expression, I love the sense of motion of her fluttery hair and lovely tail! The details from herears, bangs, locks, eyes and mouth to the buckles, lacings, plrates, ribbons creases and cuffs aere quite exquisite, sculpted in the very minute detail with the very smoothly precise paint! I will give this figure the A grade, and have found the prime spot for her upon the desk in my office! I am done, so now here is Mie-sensei to discuss
Taito’s Vocoloid Hatsune Miku 2nd Season
Spring Ver. (Easter Bunny Outfit) Prize Figure!
Mielikki:
Arigato! So like this 1/9 scale prize figure of Hatsune Miku is is totally adorably cute, sexy and peppy in her ornately, flouncy, ruffled off-soulder, bare-midriff easter bunny costume, gerring us with the smiling, running pose with the basket of colorful eggs, fur shur! Standing on one leg, she is about 8.75″ tall including her high heels & clip on rabbit-ears, splus the another .25″” to the overall height for the 4.75″ diameter transparent amber-colored, flower-shaped base.
The design, sculpt & paint of the figure are so precise, from the long twin-tail coiffure with the daisies & pink ribbon button above her bangs, and the strapless crop top with detached puffy yellow sleeves, to the layered asymmetric ruffled pnk mini skirt, the puffy cotton balls arop her gloves and slippers, and the intricate details of her eyes, mouth, fingers, ears, tail, and inny bellly, so I am totally pleased with the figure, fur shur! Now here iskianalani to start our
Purrinted Media Mewsings, with her

Marvel Comics’ Civil Wer: Unmasked no. 4!
Nyoka:
Arigato! This five issue mini series retcons certain supurr heroes’ involvements before, during and after Marvel’s 2006 Civil War miniseries, and issu no. 4 focuses on my favorite Marvel l character Greer Grant Nelson, a.k.a.! Tigra! It was written by Christos gage, illustrated by Edgar Salazar, colored by Morry Hollowell, lettered by Travis Lanham, edited by Sidney Stubbs…
.. executively edited by Tom Brevoort, and in-chiefly edited by C.B Cebulski, with the issue design by
Gabriel Mata, the cover art by Geoff Shaw & Morry, and the variant cover by Paolo Siqueira & Rachelle Rosenberg. You know, I especially like Gage’s 2020 Avengers Academy series which starred Tigra, and her recent appurrances in Moon Knight!
This full-color 32 page issue includes the 21 page tale, the 2 page purrofile of author / editor Ralph Macchio, Christos Gage’s 2 pages of notes, and 7 pages of ads. The tale purrtains to Tigra’s role in the Civil War, and why she switched from Tony Stark’s side to Steve Rogers’ side. Also appurring in this tale are Steve Rogers, Wolverine, Carol Danvers, Luke Cage, Hercules, Cloak & Dagger.
In the flashback scene are Daredevil, Invisible Woman, The Falcon, Bill Foster, William Nelson, and the Thor Clone. It is quite the captivating, contemplative, beautiful, thrilling issue, and I am purrticualrly fond of the impurressive two page spurread of the Cap’s Avengers fighting the enemy copy-HellcatsI I will give it the A as in Avengers! Nyow here is Bunnii to discuss
The Art of Star Wars Andor The Complete Series!
Bunnii:
HaI! I think that this has been the good year for Star Wars, from the Ninth Jedi and Darth Maul animated series to the Mandalorian & Grogu move, and now this rather handsome and informative coffee table book! Published by Abrams, written by Lucasfilm’s Phil Szostak with the forward by Andor’s showrunner Tony Gilroy and the afterward by Andor’s co-writer Dan Gilroy, this 11.75″ x 10.875″ x 1″, dust-jacketed, full color 288 page hardcover book is quite impressive!
Priced $60 US, $82.00 Canada, and £ 44.00 UK, this book is the treasure trove of information and imagery, with over 500 images of production, concept art and blueprints,, including the costumes, props, creatures, FX, and locations such as errix, Aldhani, Narkina 5, and Coruscant from all 20 episodes of two seasons of Andor, which is my favorite of the live-action Star Wars TV series, so I will recommend it highly to its fans!
