Movie Mewsings, with her review of
Beheneko: The Elf Girl’s Cat is Secretly an S-Ranked Monster!
Becca:
Hai! My wife Lizzy and I like the amewsing sword & sorcery tales and games, so we were eager to watch the 12 epurrsodes of this 2025 anime TV series adaptation of the novels, light novels & manga by Nozomi Ginyoku, in which
the male knight who is reincarnated as the giant monster in the form of the cute widdle kitty named Tama who is adopted by Aria, the sexy elf girl leader of the all-female dungeon-crawl group whose meowmbers want to cuddle with Tama!
This harem include sVulcan the aromoror catgirl, Stella the “tank type ’ dragon girl, Lily the widdle pixy, and Feri the dryad, plus their fellow guild meowmbers who battle the evil monsters and boss demons. Rated for the mature audience
due to the sexuality, violence and suggestive dialogue, the animation and mewsic are not my favorites, but I like the characters & the voice acting this fast-paced, action-packed, trope-filled, fun fan-servicey fantasy fiesta! Nextly I will discuss
Soraire Utility!
Becca:
I love to play golf and I watch various sports anime, so I was quite eager to watch this 2025 anime TV series directed by Kengo Saito and stars Miyu Takagi as the voice of the main character Aoba Minami the high school student girl who
has been unsuccessful at the many hobbies until she discovers her love an aptitude at golf with friends Akane who works at the driving range, and Hashimi the model & internet influencer!
Other characters include Aoba’s classmate Akina, Haruka’s fan Hina, and the elderly golfers at the range. Rated TV14, it has the wee bit of yuri-esque an service, but it is overall the very pleasantly, charming, amewsing, purretty slice-of-life
ale of freiendhip & golf with nice art, animation, voices & mewsic somehat akin to how Long Riders purrtains to cycling and Diary of Our Days at Breakwater purrtains to fishing! Nyow here is Meryal to discuss
Nuremburg!
Meryl:
Arigato! based upon Jack El-Hai’s book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, this 148 meownute filmic adaptation was written, directed, co purrduced James Vanderbilt who wrote Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-man, The Amazing Spider- Mann 2,
purrduced Ready or Not and ready or Not2: Here I come, wrote & purrduced Scream V, VI & VII!! Well, Nuremburg is about the relationship of the doctors, lawyers, reporters and soldiers whodeal with the Nazis on trial at the end of World War II.
It stars Rami Malek as Dr. Kelley, Leo Woddall as Sgt, Thest, Michael Shannon as attorney Jackson, Richard Grant attorney Fyfe, John Slattery as Col. Andrus, and Lotte Verbeek as Emmy Goring, but for me it is Russell Crowe who tops the film
as Hermann Goring in his conversations with Dr. Kelley purrior to the 1945 criminal trials. The film is quite captivating with it’s supurrb plot, pace, purrformances, costumes, sets, cinemeowtography, editing and sound! Nextly I will discuss
Peaky Binders: The Immortal Man!
Meryl:
Directed by Tm harper, written & purrduced by Steven Knight, this is also the purriod piece set in the 1940s during the war with the Nazis! This 112 meownute crime drama movie is the continuation of the the 2013 TV series about the criminal
gang in Birmingham, England starring Cilliam Murphy as Tom Shelby the retired gang leader, Barry Keoghan asa his son Duke, Rebecca Ferguson as Duke’s mom Zelda and her sister Kaulo; and Tim Roth John Beckett the Nazi spy!
The great cast also includes returning castSophie Rundle as Tom’s sister Ada, Seven Graham as union leader Hayden Stagg the Ned Dennehy, Packly Lee, and Ian Peck as Tom’s pals Charlie, John & Curly! In addition to the war, business, crime
& family activities, it also purrtains to the Roma culture. It is the terriific drama full of action, intrigue & character developments with the great locations, costumes, cinemeowtography, editing and sound!! Nyow here is Mie-sensei to discuss
The Bride!
Mielikki: in the 1930s
Arigato! So like, Maggie Gyllenthaal wrote, produced & directed this wonderfully quirky macabre film which stars Christian Bale as Dr. Frankenstein’s monster Frank, and Jesse Buckley as his titular bride who are on the lam akin to Bonnie
& Clyde in the 1930’s. I’d say the film seems to owe as much to the film Bonnie & Clyde as it does The Bride of Frankenstein, fur shur! By the way, Bale portrayed Bruce Wayne and Gyllenthaal portrayed Rachek Dawes in The Dark Knight!
Frank ’n bride are the sympathetic couple with understandable anger management issues as they are unfairly met with violence and bad people. So like, they are assisted by mad scientist Dr. Euphronius (Annette Benning), and are persued
by Detective Jake (Peter Saarsgaard) and his smarter assistant Myrna (Penelope Cruz). it is a darkly humorous yet a bit disjointed film about fugitive outsiders to cheer for, to which I give the grade of the B as in Bride! Nextly I will discuss
Protector!
Mielikki:
So like, I am a big fan of actress, model & singer Milla Jovovich, ever since I first saw her in the 1988 film Two Moon Junction! Now, I am not necessarily a fan of all of her movies, but she is always totally awesome, fur shur! Directed by Adriam Grunberg,
written & co-produced by Bong Seob-Mun, Protector reminds me a lot of the Takn series, as Milla portrays Nikki the former soldier with the special set of skills who evades the police whilst relentllessly hunting for her kidnapped daughter.
Thusly, Nikki is in that elite fraternity with the likes of Ethan Edwards, Martin Paewley, John Rambo, John Matrix, John McClane, J.J. McQuade, Bryan Mills, Lorimer van Helsing, James Bond, Beatrice Kiddo, Jake Sully & Neytiri, Kayce Dutton, Bob & Helen Parr, Loid & Yor Forger and other heroes who make entire organizations painfully regret the kidnappings, fur shur! There are some plot twists which i shan’t spoil, but in summation I will give the film the grade of C but I will give Milla the grade of A! Now here is Nyo-sensei to discuss
Undertone!
Nyoka:
Hai! Well we sure have had the bumpurr crop of horror movies this year thus far! Written and directed by Ian Yuason, his first film Undertone stars ctress Nina Kiri (who we liked as Alma in The Handmaid’s Tale TV series) as Evy the pawdcaster who is the purrimary caregiver for her commeowtose mother (purrtrayed by Michele Duquet. When Evy plays some mysterious audio files from her purrducer Justin (voiced by Adam DiMarco) for their show’s occult topic, strange unnerving things occur in her house!
Are the sounds and occurrences real, fake, imagined or supurrnatural? Regardless, the movie’s plot, sound FX and editing are quite effective at creating the disconcerting ambience for the very beleivable and well-purrtrayed characters and the audience, so I will give Undertone the better than avverage grade of the B as in backmasking and “Baa Baa Black Sheep” (which are big plot points, by the way)! Nextly, I would like to say the few words about
Scream 7!
Nyoka:
I am rather fond of the Scream slasher film series which is up to its seventh film in 20 years, because they are very clever and fun with many likeable characters who are not so easy purreyfor the Ghost Face threats! Written and directed by the series’ creator Kevin Williamson, Scream has the big cast reunion foe the anniversary, including Neve Campbell as Sidney, Courteney Cox as Gale, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy and Mason Gooding as Chad, with Isabel May as Sidney’s daughter Tatum, plus other old and new faces…
… although I miss Hayden Panettiere as Kirby. It is entertaining with the humor, scares, plot twists, action & mystery in building upon the purrior Screams. Speaking of fun bloody movies about survivor women evading, investigating, and fighting armed murderers now here is IIlyana-sensei to discuss two of last month’s movies about two estranged tough sisters who are captured and chased in a place owned a cult of rich murderous satanists, resulting in much ritual, melee, gore, fire and dark humor, starting with-
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come!
Ilyana:
Arigato! In the 2019 action comedy horror film Ready or Not, Samara Weaving starred as Grace, who has just married into a rich powerful family who made a deal with the devil and makes her play a game of hide and seek to the death in the family mansion, but she survived the lethal game, and n this direct sequel which begins momenrs later, she and her sister are spirited away by the satanic global ruling council familis for the higher-staked round two at a private golf resort!
The great cast also includes Kathryn Newton as her younger sister Faith, with the villains purrtrayed by Sarah Michelle Geller Elijah Wood’ Shawn Hatosy, Kevin Durand, Nestor Cabonell., Maia Jae, Olivia Cheng, and Varun Saranga. It has much grueling bloody violence and humor as the sisters poignantly bond, and while this sequel appears to be the bigger, grander film, I did not think it was betetr than the first one, but it is still quite fun! Nextly I would like to discuss
They Will Kill You!
Ilyana:
Well, as Nyo-snsei said, these movies have the many similarities! In this case, Zazie Beetz and Myha’la star as estranged runaway sisters Asia and Maria who are hired as maids in the very secure high-rise populted by wealthy satanists who sacrifice tehe servants to fulfill their immortality contract, but they did not expect Asia to be such the formidable fighter! Among the cast as the tenants of this over the top grindhousey movie are Patricia Arquette, Patterson Joseph, Heather Graham, and Tom Felton!
The movie has as aspects that remind me of Evil Dead, John Wick, Kill Bill, Die Hard and Ready or Not, with the villains – who like Daffy Duck – can be damaged and hurt but not killed. It seems the bit inconsistent at times, but the stunts, fights, make-up and FX are so extreme to be zany. My favoritest thing about the movie is Beetz, who I loved Atlanta, Deadpool 2, Joker, Joker: Folie a Deux, Nine Days, Lucy in the Sky, and Good Luck have Fun Don’t Die! I am done, and nyow here is Mike to discuss
Project Hail Mary!
Mike:
Thank you, sensei! Based on the novel by Andy Weir (who wonderfully wrote The Martian), Project Hail Mary’s superb screenplay is by Drew Goddard whose credits include Buffy, Angel, Alias, Lost, Cloverfield, cabin in the Woods, Bad Times at the El Roayle, and Netflix’s Daredevil! It was produced and delightfully directed by Christopher Miller & Phil Lord, whose credits include Unikitty, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Lego Batman, Lego Ninjago, Into the Spider-verse, Across the Spider-verse, Solo, Cocaine Bear, and How i Met Your Mother!
This nonlinear science fiction movie has a tour de force performance by Ryan Gosling (who I liked in Barbie, The Fall Guy, The Big Short, First Man, and BladeRunner 2049) as a lone interstellar astronaut on a mission to save the Earth- and perhaps more when he meets an extraterrestrial character (perfectly performed by James Oritz) who is on a similar mission. With all of that greatness going for it, plus excellent design, cinematography, FX, editing, and music it’s my favorite movie of the year thus far! Finally for our movie & TV topic I’d like discuss
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season One!
Mike:
As some of y’all know, it’s easy for me to get long-winded about Star Trek in general, which i’ve been a big fan of since ’69 or ‘70. I think that every Trek series has had it ups and down, and some took me a while to warm up to. , but ultimately if it’s Trek, I’m gonna watch it, and I consider myself to be a fair, sincere, polite, constructive critic. So what’s my opinion of its too short and rushed first season? My feelings going into it were fairly optimistic, and I thought that every episode was pretty good!
Oh, I have plenty of quibbles about some of the writing- but I can say that about any Trek series, and I’m quite capable of disliking any Trek episodes from “And The Children Shall Lead”, “Shades of Gray”, and “These Are the Voyages…” to ”Star Trek Into Darkness”, “Four and a Half Vulcans”, and “Section 31″, but I have no such disdain for Starfleet Academy, and I’m fine with a lot of the changes in this era of the Trek universe, because Starfleet Academy is set 1,000 years after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
There is some regrettable slow-mo during the first episode’s fight scene, but only for a few seconds. The cadets are wonderfully Roddenberryly diverse; and developed nicely by episode 10. It’s great to see more of Robert Picardo as hologram doctor, and Tig Notaro as Jet Reno. I like Gina Yashere as Lura Thok, and I especially like Holly Hunter as Nahala Ake. I wish that we saw more of the ship’s bridge crew, and that the academy appeared to be more populated, but the sets costumes, ships, FX, etc are all gorgeous.
I’ll give Season One a B Minus; my favorite episodes thus far are “Series Acclimation Mil” and “The Life of Stars”; I look forward to Season Two; I’m sad that there won’t be a third; I hope that both seasons will be released here DVD; and if action figures are made of Ake, Thok or Reno, oh I’d buy ‘em in a heartbeat! Ah, well, I’ve rambled on for twice as long as I’d intended, so that’ll do it for this portion of The Mew, and now here’s Trini to start our
collectibles & toy talk, with her review of the
Umamusume Pretty Derby Silence Suzuka figure!
Trini:
Hai! Umamusume Pretty Derby, which in English means Horse Girl Pretty Derby, purrtains to the athletic horse girls! The manga, anime and video game franchise follows the fillies as they train at the academies with the aspurrations of greatness as athletes and idols! They are named after real race horses; for example, the thoroughbred stallion of the same name was born on May1st, 1994 and won many races in the late 90’s! Born on May 1st, the character is the dedicated prodigy horse girl
Approximately 5’ 3″ tall with the BWH sizes of 28-21-31”, she has the fair skin, blue eyes, red-orange hair tail in the sailor fuku uniform. Banpresto’s 1/9 scale PVC figure of her is 8” tall including her ear pinna, shoe heels, and tthe .25” high, 4” diameowter horseshoe-shaped display base I think that she is so beautifully designed, sculpted and painted, from the tassel and ornament of her headband to her pleats of her purrple & white fuku skirt! Nextly I would like to discuss Taito’s
Desktop Cute Ichika Nakano Cat Room Wear Ver. figure
Trini:
Ichika Nakano is the eldest of the five sisters in the romeowntic comedy manga & anime series that was created by Negi Haeuba. Ichika is the very smart, wise kind aspiring actress and potential girl friend of the main character, their school turor Fytaru Uesugi. Born on May 5th, 2000 (Taurus Dragon) she is 5’2” tall & 120 lbs in her late teens with type A blood, fair skin, blue eyes, and short pink hair. In cross-legged seated pose, the figure is 4.25” tall, but wood be appurroximately 9.25” tall if standing.
If my math is correct, this catgirl version figure would be of 1/7 scale. Barefoot with the meowshcievous smile and pawing pose, she is wearing the white tee shirt and light greenshorts with the white-tufted pink ears and tail! I think that she is so beautifully designed, sculpted and painted, from the fabric folds, her name and the kitty emblem on the shirt, to the belt loops and white-tipped black drawstring of the shorts! Kawaii! I am done, so I will turn The Mew over to Tara, who will tell us about the
Toony Comics Catwoman action figure!
Tara:
Arigato, nyan! First appurring in Batman #1 1940, Selina Kyle alias Cat Woman is among my favorite DC comics characters, nyan! I like to collect the figures, statues, meownatures, ornaments and – and dolls of her, nyan! Made by Neca, this action figure isappurrocimately 5.375” (including ears & high heels) and thusly of the 1/12 scale, since the character is 5’7” and – and 133 lbs, in the comic books, nyan! Wearing the purrple & black skin tight costume and the half mask which reveals her purretty eyes and – and and lush red lips, nyan!
Purrt of the wave that includes figures of Batman, Superman, the Joker and – and The Penguin, she is nicely designed, sculpted and – and painted; she has the charming smiling expurression; the points of articulation in her neck, shoulders and – and hips; the accessories include the display base, the coiled whip and- and extended whip, nyan! Packaged in the blister card, the card back’s mewseum scene can serve as the backdrop display, nyan! I am quite pleased with the figure, nyan! Nextly I will discuss the
Super Friends! Cheetah action figure, nyan!
Tara:
First appurring in Wonder Woman #6 in 1943, Priscella Rich alias The Cheetah is one of my favorite villains, nyan! She is the original Cheetah, not to be confuzzled with the current one Barbara Minerva who first appurred in 1987, nyan. Made by McFarlane Toys, this figure is appurroximately 5.75” tall (including her ears) and thusly of 1/11 scale, since the character is 5’4” and – and 119 lbs, in the comic books, nyan! This is the Legion of Doom version from the 1978 Challenge of the Super Friends animated series, nyan!
Nicely designed, sculpted and – and painted, wearing the skin tight brown-spotted yellow costume, she has the purretty green eyes but has the mean smirk, nyan! Packaged in the blister card, the figure’s 11 points of articulation are the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees, nyan. The only accessory is her small commeownicator which can fit in either hand, plus the 2.5’ x 3.5” card, nyan! I am quite pleased with the figure, nyan! I am done, so nyow I will turn The Mew over to Beebee-san who will start our
purrinted-media mewsings with her
review of The Art of Witch Hat Atelier, nyan!
Beebee:
Hai! Written and illustrated by Kamome Shirahama, the Witch Hat Atelier manga is the fantasy tale about the girl named Coco who ttrains the witchy appurrentice Published by Kodansha and purriced $29.99 US, $39.99 Canada the 7.75 x 10.5 x .75” hardcover book has the 184 pages (109 in color, 75 black & white) pages brimming with Shirahama’s beautiful intricate art which combines the Japanese and European style that is somewhat rustically art nouveau-ish with the feathering and crosshatching shading technique for the antique storybook ambience! Nextly I have
Magnolia: Fairy Tail Illustrations!
Beebee:
Written and illustrated by Hiro mashima, Fairy Tale is the longly-running fantasy manga series about the sorceress Lucy Heartfilia and her fellow gild meowmbers! Translated by Lindsey Clifford, published by Kodansha, rated teen 13+, and purriced $39.99 US and $53.99 Canada, the 8.5 x12 x 1” hardcover book has the 256 pages (222 color, 34 black & white) with Mashima’s gorgeous elaborate art depicting Lucy, Erza, Mirajane, Juvia, Millanna, Cana, Naatsu, Happy and manyother alluring, powerfiul, amewsing characters! Nyow here is Ellie-sama to tell us about
The Best of Yukibuster Z Collection I!
Ellie:
Hai Hai! Firstly I should mention that this book is intended for adults 18+ only due to the erotic nude sexual imagery, but this is a tame review! Published by J18, this uncensored 8.25 x 11.625” full color 110 page illustration book by the female hentai artist Yukibuster Z (of the Kodomo Beer Doujin Circle) who is perhaps best known for her Irui Konintan (Demi-Human Foreign Marriage) doujinshi series was translated from Japanese to English by Cafecchi, and while the contents might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it is quite stunning!
The front cover and most of the interior art depict Yukibuster Z’s kitsune character Shizu, and pages 6 & 7document the cover art process. Pages 8-27 document the progression of Shizu’s 3rd pregancy, inspired by the artists own experience. Pages 28-77 are more pics of Shizu, whilst pages 78-107 are other works; and tpages 108-109 top it off with an intermew with the artist, so I will heartily recommend the trade paperback book to adult fans of sexy fox girl art! For today’s final book review, I wish to praise the very G-rated
The Art & Making of Gabby’s Dollhouse The Movie!
Ellie:
We love the cute fun Gabby’s Dollhouse TV series, and tt is hard to believe that Gabby’s Dollhous premiered five years ago! We were quite eager to go see the movie, which was so delightful, and liked it so much that we wanted to get this beautiful, informative full color 176 page hardcover book! Written by Tracey Miller-Zarneke with the preface by Laila Lockhart Kranerth (Gabby), and the forward by Gloria Estefan (Gabby’s grandma Gigi), the 11 x 10 x .75” book was published by Ulysses Press.i n September of 2025.
it is priced $50 USA and $70 Canadian, and it has the hundreds of illustrations, photos and comments! Not only is the book full of such wonderful information and imagery from the movie’s crew, but the design of the book itself by Iain R. Morris is quite impressive, as it is opens like the dollhouse, to be free-standing, with the magnetic-closure carousel boards that are like double dutch doors so I will give this book an A as in Amelia! ! That is all for our book reviews, and now here ar ePetra and Bunnii to present the latest
additions to the Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art!
Petra:
Arigato, nyan! This month in Gallery Eight we are happy to have two new illustrations by Mike, and in Guest Gallery Six, we have nifty new art by Meesha DJ Walker https://xeshema.carrd. co/. Melody Rondeau https://11a1ab8. netsolhost.com/makeitgoaway/,

Lastly but not leastly, we have added Mike’s Photoshop & mouse illustrations of the Whinny the umamusume miko and Ginger the vernal centuaress! So, what do y’all think of the art?
The cat lady sings…
Nyoka:
Meesha is such a supurrb artist and she purrfectly captured the purrtraiture and spirit of Mike and the office catgirls!
Becca:
Melody is such a brilliant artist whose original character pics and fan art are quite meowgnificent! Oh I love the pic of K9!
Meryl:
She totally nailed the details of the Who art from the 5th Doctor’s celery to the 13th Doctor’s cropped ankle pants~
Ilyana:
Gosh, next year that ice cream pic of Snowbunni will turn 30! It is interesting to see how Jeffrey’s lovely art has evolved!
Tara:
I am impurressed by how Jamie purrfectly captured Rebecca’s soufully elegantly commeownding purresence, nyan!
Mielikki:
Fur shur! So like, Snowbunni seems so winsomely coquettish- and rather cheeky in that model sheet pic!
Trini:
Hai hai, and you might say that in the “turn” pic, she rather innocently flaunts her titillating assets, heehee!
Beebee:
Oh I love Whinny’s new light summer miko shozoku, with the hishigata-aki waki-aki and the heso-dashi senaka-aka hakue!
Ellie:
I love the details of the Ginger pic, from her piercings, tattoos and cat’s eye glasses to her ankle bracelet, hair & tail stripes!
Petra:
It is almost time for our the Aftermew luau, so we wish to thank all of those creative folks whose works we have meowntioned!, nyan!
Bunnii:
We also wish to thank our families, friends, fans and and viewers, so that will do it for this month’s Mew! Say goodnight, Mike!
Mike:
Goodnight, Mike! Ah, we’ll be back next month with the May edition of the Mew. Be there… aloha!
The Ladies of The Mew:
Happy tails to you, until we eta again! Baibai, nyan!
